About the Rosary

The Rosary is the Church's most beloved Marian prayer. Twenty mysteries spanning the life of Christ, contemplated through the eyes of his Mother. From the angel's greeting at Nazareth to the crowning of the Queen of Heaven, each decade invites you to slow down, meditate, and let the repetition of prayer become a path into stillness.

Luminous Mysteries

Thursday

The public ministry of Christ, from the Jordan to the Upper Room. Added by St. John Paul II in 2002 in Rosarium Virginis Mariae, these mysteries illuminate the years between the hidden life and the Passion.

First Mystery: The Baptism in the Jordan

After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.' Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus does not need baptism. He enters the water anyway, standing in line with sinners, taking his place among the broken. The Trinity reveals itself in a single moment: the Father speaks, the Spirit descends, the Son rises from the water. Every mission begins with identity. Before Jesus does anything, the Father declares who he is.

Fruit: Openness to the Holy Spirit

Second Mystery: The Wedding at Cana

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana. The mother of Jesus said to him, 'They have no wine.' Jesus said, 'Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.' John 2:1-12

Mary notices before anyone else that the wine has run out. She does not solve the problem herself. She brings it to her Son, and then gives the only instruction she ever gives in the Gospels: do whatever he tells you. Six stone jars of water become the finest wine. The first miracle happens at a party, at his mother's prompting, to save a young couple from embarrassment. God cares about ordinary joy.

Fruit: To Jesus through Mary

Third Mystery: The Proclamation of the Kingdom

Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: 'This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.' Mark 1:14-15

The kingdom is not a place you travel to. It is a reality that breaks into the present wherever mercy meets suffering, wherever truth is spoken to power, wherever the last are treated as first. Jesus does not describe a theory. He heals the sick, eats with outcasts, forgives sins, and tells stories that reverse every expectation. The kingdom is at hand. It always has been.

Fruit: Repentance and trust in God

Fourth Mystery: The Transfiguration

Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became dazzling white. Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them; then from the cloud came a voice, 'This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.' Mark 9:2-8

For a moment, the veil lifts. The disciples see Jesus as he truly is: radiant, conversing with Moses and Elijah, the whole of salvation history gathered on a mountaintop. Peter wants to build tents and stay. But the vision is not the destination. They must go back down the mountain and walk toward Jerusalem. Every consolation in prayer is meant to strengthen you for the road ahead.

Fruit: Desire for holiness

Fifth Mystery: The Institution of the Eucharist

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, 'Take and eat; this is my body.' Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, 'Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant.' Matthew 26:26-28

On the night before he dies, Jesus does not give a speech. He gives himself, hidden in bread and wine. The Eucharist is not a symbol of absence. It is presence: real, total, given. Every Mass since that night is the same supper, the same offering, the same invitation to receive what you could never earn. He remains.

Fruit: Adoration

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Amen.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Fatima Prayer

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell,
lead all souls to heaven,
especially those most in need of Thy mercy.
Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.

Closing Prayer

O God, whose only-begotten Son,
by His life, death and resurrection,
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life;
grant, we beseech Thee,
that by meditating upon these mysteries
of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain,
and obtain what they promise,
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
