Glorious Mysteries
Wednesday & Sunday
The Resurrection, Ascension, and the life of the early Church. Christ conquers death, sends his Spirit, and brings his Mother home. These mysteries are the reason for everything that came before.
First Mystery: The Resurrection
He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead.' Matthew 28:1-10
The stone is rolled away. The tomb is empty. The first witnesses are women, whose testimony was not admissible in court. God entrusts the most important news in history to people the world would not believe. The Resurrection is not a metaphor. It is the hinge of history. If this happened, then death is not the last word, suffering is not meaningless, and every act of love matters forever.
Fruit: Faith
Second Mystery: The Ascension
So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. Mark 16:19-20
Jesus does not stay. He entrusts the mission to eleven ordinary men and tells them to go to the ends of the earth. The Ascension is not abandonment. It is commission. He leaves so that the Church can become his body in the world. Every parish, every act of mercy, every prayer offered in a hospital room or a prison cell is the continuation of what he began.
Fruit: Hope
Third Mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues. Acts 2:1-4
Fifty days after Easter, the disciples are still hiding. Then the Spirit arrives, and fear becomes courage, confusion becomes clarity, a locked room becomes the first church. Pentecost is the birthday of the mission. The same Spirit who overshadowed Mary at the Annunciation now fills the whole community. The Church is not merely an institution. It is a movement of the Spirit through ordinary people who have been set on fire.
Fruit: Love of God
Fourth Mystery: The Assumption
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. Revelation 12:1
The Church has held from the earliest centuries that Mary was taken body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. Defined as dogma by Pius XII in 1950, the Assumption is not just about Mary. It is about the destiny of every human body. Because she said yes to carrying God in her body, her body shares fully in the glory of the Resurrection. Where she has gone, we hope to follow.
Fruit: Grace of a happy death
Fifth Mystery: The Coronation of Mary
Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women. Luke 1:28, 42
The angel's greeting at Nazareth finds its fulfillment in heaven. Mary is crowned Queen, not because she earned a title, but because she lived a life of complete fidelity. The last mystery of the Rosary returns us to the first: a woman who trusted God without conditions, who pondered what she could not understand, who stood at the cross when everyone else fled. She is our Mother. She prays for us still.
Fruit: Trust in Mary's intercession
Sign of the Cross
Amen.
Apostles' Creed
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
Our Father
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Glory Be
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
Fatima Prayer
save us from the fires of hell,
lead all souls to heaven,
especially those most in need of Thy mercy.
Amen.
Hail, Holy Queen
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Closing Prayer
by His life, death and resurrection,
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life;
grant, we beseech Thee,
that by meditating upon these mysteries
of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain,
and obtain what they promise,
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
